The Colours Adorning Our Nails This Summer

This season it’s all about pops of colour, playful motifs and non-uniformity. Our fingers and toes are having so much fun this summer and so should yours.

There is always a time for muted tones, sheer glosses and nudes, and in 2021, we’re mixing and mashing them with the colours of the rainbow. We’re talking about our nails by the way.

Instagram has well and truly opened up our worlds to the great big creative realm that is nail art. The app plentiful with accounts churning out awe-inspiring designs and artistry (some of our favourites are @mannequin.hands, @j.hannah and @betina_goldstein), and now we’re feeling a bit embarrassed looking down at our unkempt talons.

Like any beauty phenomenon, nail art is deeply trend-focused and an extension of fashion expression. This year has already shown us that the most are not afraid to take risks when it comes to manicures and pedicures.

A trip over to the Instagram accounts of Miss Kylie Jenner and her army of influentials will solidify the fact that your nail beds are the perfect place to have a bit of fun.

Movements we’re seeing while scrolling our feeds at the moment are amalgamations of the checked trend, colourful French mani tips and inverse blocking.

While visiting your nail tech may be the best way to achieve complex designs and shapes, there is a chance some of you will be unable to make it to your local salon at the moment. So if you’re bringing it back to basics, fun-it-up with colours of all shades.

Neons, metallics, bolds and beiges are fun and add dimension to your look when mixed together. Opt for alternate fingers or layer on the same nail, really the sky is the limit!
