Phoebe Tonkin Adds her Flare to Rolla’s New Collection
Aussie export to LA and ultimate cool-girl, Phoebe Tonkin has collaborated with home-grown heritage denim brand Rolla’s.
Melbourne-born denim brand Rolla’s have this week launched another of their highly anticipated collaborations, this time with an it-girl who grew up a little closer to home. With quite the impressive list of collaborators thus far under their belts, Bella Hadid, Devon Lee Carson, Sofia Ritchie, the laid-back label invited our very own, Phoebe Tonkin, to add her own flare to the Rolla’s brand.
Australian expat who now calls Los Angeles home, you may know Phoebe Tonkin from the pages of Australia’s glossy fashion mags, her role in television series ‘the Vampire Diaries’ or you may even be one of the 8.4 million people who follower her on Instagram.
For Tonkin, this collaboration was a chance to create a range that speaks to both her laid-back Australian upbringing and her current Californian lifestyle “I loved revisiting my Australian roots working with Rolla’s, I’ve been wearing their jeans for years” Tonkin said of the partnership.
The 32-piece collection of denim basics and 1970’s inspired separates is the vivid dream we can’t help but want to live in. If, like me, you’re not a fan of the return of the 00’s zeitgeist of low-rise denim and grungy accessories, you’ll truly appreciate this injection of good old fashioned retro fun.
Expect heritage hues of denim in bootleg, flare and cheeky short silhouettes that ooze Californian summer simplicity. “And being able to shoot for such an iconic Aussie brand in my adopted hometown of LA was the perfect celebration of both where I started and where I am now.” Says Tonkin.
One of the standout pieces we think truly encapsulates Tonkin’s effortless, model-off duty look, is the Dallas Vest in Recycled Denim. A fitted shape that can be worn as a cropped top, or layers over a tee, dress or shirt.
It wouldn’t be a Rolla’s collection without the injection of corduroy, of which you’re spoilt for choice. The hero colour of the collection is rich and regal cobalt blue in the thick corduroy we’ve come to expect from the Melbourne brand, plus heritage tobacco and chocolate hues that simply goes with everything.
If you find yourself in the southern hemisphere and are starting to feel the ping of spring excitement, this capsule of goodies will only make you hungrier for warmer weather.
