Deck the Halls: How to Decorate your Home for the Holidays

Twinkling lights, tableware and the baubles so good you’ll want to have them out all year round. Whether you’ll be leaving out a wreath, dousing a tree with metallic goodness or keeping it paired back and monochromatic, these are the cohort of Christmas decorations to get excited about this silly season.

No matter your stance on the festive season, it’s always a little bit of fun to join in on the merriment and add some sparkle, shine and cheer into the home.

For me personally, I have a deep fondness and appreciation for the traditional, but also, modern, and eclectic Christmas trinkets really do it for me. This year, I’ll be mixing both the classic and the cool to build a décor that reigns true to my interior preferences that are around all year long.

Brands like Hay Design, Ferm Living and Iittala all offer a modern approach to Christmas with an element of design so good, you’ll want to leave everything up all year round. One of the best ways to get more out of Christmas ornaments is to go for a white option, or colours that aren’t traditionally Christmas-y.

For the tree, me and my partner sub in a ficus plant we already have in the house for an artificial or cut down pine tree. Because the foliage isn’t traditional, I keep the ornaments to a minimum, and opt for quality over quantity. I am obsessed with these funky, colourful and glittery options Cody Foster & Co: fun, fun, fun.

I am a big believer in creating a multi-sensory experience and home fragrance will amp up the Christmas cheer in the home throughout the holidays. Thanks to retailers like Adore Beauty, there are so many scent vehicles to choose from to bring in woody, earthen and floral hues into your space. Little candle trios from brands such as Maison Balzac are a fabulous place to keep things fresh all December long.
