Luxe to Less: Women’s Vests

Vests have fast-tracked their way to It-girl status, and are now spotlighted as a must-have wardrobe staple.

Long gone are the days when searching for a vest would lead you to the menswear suit department. Now many fashion trendsetters and celebrities are all about the versatile vest-as-top look, and we just can’t get enough. To help you get started on having fun with the look we have combined some of our favourite fits from Luxe, to Less.

Luxe

This luxe look is all about encapsulating the Sofia Richie Grainge ‘lavish weekend away in the French Riviera’ aesthetic. Labelled the queen of “Quiet Luxury”, Sofia knows plenty when it comes to nailing a timeless look.

Whether you copy Sofia’s exact look of a linen set or incorporate a thicker material of cotton or wool, the sentiment remains the same; keep it simple.

As we come into spring here in the southern hemisphere, we strongly recommend this outfit.

First things first, the key to nailing the luxe look is having the perfect white or cream vest. While you can go for your basic button-up vest, we are loving the idea of subtle detailing that makes it stand out from the rest. Hence our favourite, the Róhe double-breasted twill waistcoat.

Paired with the matching pleated twill tapered trousers that sit at the ankle, and some Ginza leather and suede sandals from The Row, you are on your way to the perfect, chic spring outfit.

Complete the look with a Loewe leather-trimmed raffia tote, some Chloe Darcey long earrings, and a Zoë Chicco gold bracelet.
All you need now is the flight to the French Riviera, or an imagination that takes you there.

Less

For a look that can take you from day to night, brunch to dinner, office to afternoon drinks, this one’s for you.

As well as spotlighting the rising vest trend, the added bonus of this look is that it includes the staple trend of the denim skirt. The two go hand-in-hand, and we just can’t get enough.

For the days you are chasing an effortless look to match your carefree attitude, a simple tailored vest is the way to go. The Frankie Shop achieves this vibe with their Gelso tailored waistcoat. Tailored in South Korea, the simple front is accentuated against the satin back; a true party in the back style.

Pair the vest with the Camilla and Marc Rennie maxi skirt (a style that will see you through summer and winter) and some Samba OG sneakers. There is just something about a casual sneaker and smart vest combo that we are obsessed with.

Complete the effortless look with some Aje x Local Supply sunglasses in a citrus spring shade and the Camilla and Marc Asher cap.
This vest, skirt and sneaker look will become a favourite repeat outfit this spring. Trust us.

This outfit is the perfect wardrobe staple for anyone wanting to nail the trend but not wanting to break the bank.

We can see you now, sun on the face, music in the air, dancing or bopping your head to a live band in a park or field; experiencing the magic of the warmer seasons.

For this ‘living in the moment’ aesthetic, you can’t go past a denim vest. While the trend of vests has mostly centred around more tailored options, it is great to see the much-loved fabric of denim getting some attention.

The Bohemian Traders denim vest comes in soft cotton, and can be worn button-up or button-down with an Assembly Label basic tee underneath.

This layered look can then be paired with an ASOS Design tiered white maxi skirt and a pair of Dazie Tex cowboy boots (of course!). The added design on the boot takes this look to a whole new level of fun, and we can promise you won’t regret this purchase.

Complete with a simple bag and dress up the look with statement jewellery pieces. Arms of Eve is really dominating the jewellery space at the moment, and the Cleopatra gold and emerald ring is both subtle and eye-catching.
