Founder and Creative Director of her eponymous label, Camilla Franks, actually discovered Florio’s work by chance. During a trip to Taormina just as the world was reopening post-pandemic in 2022, Franks’ search for inspiration brought her to a tiny art gallery in the heart of the southern Italian town. In a match that can only be labelled as silky serendipity, Franks soon discovered and fell madly in love with Florio’s work.

Born in Taormina, the highly coveted town in southern Italy, thanks to last year’s season 2 of ‘White Lotus’, Alessandro Florio is a tattoo artist turned painter who creates works that perfectly fit into the madness of the Camilla world.

His body of work to date can and should be described as vibrant, fun, eclectic, and of course, heavily detailed thanks to his many years of experience as a tattoo artist. Florio’s switch from skin to canvas, according to him, happened exceptionally organically as the inspiration behind his work almost always remained the same, his heritage.

Being a proud Sicilian, and even further to that, a prouder Taorminan, Florio is innately drawn to express his identity and heritage to the pearl of the Ionian Sea, in each of his works.

The brushstroke he brought to the collaborative project with Camilla, aptly named ‘Amore Mio Artist in Residence’ is romantic, beautifully chaotic and very, very fun.

Expect a dousing of vibrant colours, impressive detail and overwhelming nods to the Sicilian culture, all realised in the flowy fabrics and signature silhouettes synonymous to the Camilla brand. Our pick? Got to be the truly unisex Short Sleeve Camp Collared Shirt.
