The Summer Trends Currently Heating Up

The fashion favourites of the season.

Much like the weather, this season’s summer trends have been forecast. There will certainly be an influx of sunset orange hues, bold retro prints, knitted shorts and the welcomed return of bralettes. Runways from Paris, New York, Milan and London showcased the best of what’s to come for Spring/Summer 2022. Of course, summer is the season to strip down the layers, add pops of colour, don beach attire, and anything with a little bit of leg. We can confidently say, these trends will bring the heat this summer season!

Retro Prints

With a nod to 60’s swirls and floral patterns, retro prints have made a welcomed return. One can’t deny the trend is popping up in every crevice of the fashion sphere.

We’re seeing loud and oversized flowers, paisley printed jeans and a whole lot of screen-printed mesh anything.

The trend is certainly set to stick around this summer!

When it comes to retro print – the bolder the better.

Etro’s Floral-print Ribbed Cotton Jeans are quintessentially retro and a wardrobe must! They’re high waisted, straight leg, ideal for summer nights and simply showstopping.

For a cooler option, we love Julia Heuer’s Orange Ekke Skirt.

It’s a high waisted, mid-length cut skirt. Pair it with a block-coloured corset or bralette for a contemporary and feminine look.

If we’re writing about the return of retro print’s, it would be rude not to mention Emilio Pucci; known for his eye-catching prints.

His Silk Printed Short Dress is nothing short of heavenly and perfect for summer dinner parties.

Hues of Orange

Orange is undeniably the colour of the season.

From Dior to Ganni, the Spring/Summer 2022 fashion week runways proved the bright hue was certainly in (or about to be) in fashion.

We are here to confirm this vibrant hue elevates any ensemble!

Christopher Esber’s recent Fall ’21 collection boasts a lot of orange.

Some of the standout pieces include the Fran Cut-out Ribbed Stretch-Jersey Dress and the Open-back Intarsia Wool and Cashmere-Blend tank.

The tank is knitted with luxe fabrics, has an open curved back and features a beach scene sprawled across its façade, crafted from white cashmere and wool.

We love the look of a monochromatic outfit brought to life through orange accessories.

To do so, slip your feet into a pair of Sirens’s Bibette Heels in Crocco Leather.

They are the epitome of revamped pumps featuring a block heel and a pointed toe, in deep tangerine orange.

Alternatively, Jacquemus’s Orange Le Chiquito Clutch will make any outfit pop!

Knitted Shorts

It seems the knitted bike short trend is back just in time for summer.

It may seem silly to suggest knitted anything in summer, but knitted shorts are incredibly fashion-forward, surprisingly breathable and here for the duration of the summer season.

It’s safe to say Australian brand Nagnata, paved the way in the return of knitted bike shorts with their luxe biker shorts made from technical knit fabrics.

We simply cannot go past their Lucid Organic Cotton-blend Shorts available in striped orange or beige.

They are ideal to slip on after a beach day or a sweltering summer stroll to the shops.

Luckily for us, the 70’s style shorts come in a multiplicity of shapes, colours and designs from a huge array of brands.

If you’re after a knitted short that screams summer relaxation, Jacquemus are your guys! They’ve got knitted shorts in hot pink and khaki.

Both are high waisted, designed for comfort and put the cool in any outfit.

Bralette Season

We know hot weather brings about apathy for clothing coverage, facilitating the return of the alluring bralette.

The daring top is fun, feminine, and when paired with high waisted bottoms, it is nothing but flattering.

Whilst it may seem daunting to don a bralette, we’re here to remind you they are incredibly chic, and more importantly, bang on trend for the summer season.

Zimmerman’s Luminous Linen and Silk Bralette calls for cocktail parties.

It features a portrait neckline and thick straps which sweep into a beautiful, big bow at the back of the top. If you’re after something with colour, we love Zimmermann’s Mae Bralette Top in a dreamy marigold yellow.

For a cool and carefree look, pair a Rui Purple Crochet Bra with your favourite denim skirt or shorts.

The lilac knitted cups are made from semi-sheer brushed mohair and wool which have been secured in place by contrasting green straps, which tie at the back.
