Team Monde Share Their New Year Goals

The things we're prioritising to do for us, in 2023.

The cliche of the new years resolution doesn't get lost on us. We know, these empty plans are often a way to let yourself down in the first quarter in the year, not a tradition we want to take part in. So, instead, we've modernised the way we're goal setting in the new year. Curious? Well, keep reading...

In what has turned out to be the busiest year in memory, I have seriously neglected my daily self-care routine.

In the coming year, I’m going to try extra hard to have some dedicated ‘me time’ every single day, whether it be learning ways in which to improve my meditation skills, reintroducing my daily journalling habit, working on my core with Pilates or building my strength and breathing with yoga.

I’ve missed the serenity I feel when doing yoga, but also the workout it provides. It’s easy to forget about your breathing when your day is jam-packed, so I am hoping that my new yoga routine will restore these practices which I know will have a positive impact on my wellness, but will also help me manage the stresses that come with running your own business.

I’ve had many a plan to go to Latin America that unfortunately never came to fruition due to life and COVID. This desire to travel to central America has never wavered, and the pandemic has only cemented the urgency to grab an opportunity once you have it. Next year, I will finally be able to visit Mexico, and the levels of excitement are certainly building!

Being bilingual thanks to a couple of stints in French speaking Europe and some genetic lineage to boot, I think the jump over to Spanish should be easier and fun! That’s why, in the lead up to my trip in mid 2023, I’m setting a goal to learn enough Spanish to set me up for a rewarding trip!

I think being able to get by with enough of the country you’re visiting’s native tongue is imperative as a level of respect and to reach a deeper cultural understanding. Not to mention I think Spanish is a beautiful language!

To help me reach my goal of becoming proficient enough in Spanish for my trip, I’ll be purchasing language books that help me make the basic connections between the English, French and Spanish languages. I’ll also be complementing this with apps like DuoLingo.

Wish me luck, or should I say ¡deséame suerte!

I’ve been in the process of levelling up my fitness over the last few years and throughout that journey have developed a big love for swimming. A large portion of that love is tied to the mental health benefits submerging and moving your entire body through water carries. Talk about clarity!

What I’ve learnt over my swimming journey this far is that technique is unconditionally key. In the new year, I’m aiming to be moving faster for longer. To help me do this I’ll be investing in a brand new pull buoy to keep me hasty and high in the water. A few months with this baby at my disposal and Thorpie will be asking ME for tips.

I normally avoid generic New Year’s resolutions, but I have found myself missing how much I used to enjoy running, after taking some time away. It used to be such a stress reliever as I could have my music blasting and clear my mind for a little bit, and I always felt better for it.

To embrace the cliche “new year, new me” outlook, I am getting back into running for 2023. I will be aiming to make it a ‘two-part goal’ too by getting back into running in the morning, as I have found my morning routine has been a little over the place and making me feel out of sorts all day long.

But, first things first, I need some shoes. My current ones have been around for way too long, and so what better way to launch into 2023 than with some new kicks. To help me reach my goal, I have my eye on the Reebok x Victoria Beckham mesh sneakers. Not only are the sneakers super bright and fun-loving, but they also look super comfy.

I am a sucker for anything bright and bold, so having these staring at me will urge me to get out of the bed in the morning for some much-needed fresh air.

I have failed miserably at self-care, balancing work, life and self-care, and implementing self-care practices into my everyday life while I deal with the stressors that surround me.

For the year 2023 my resolution will be all about focusing on practising self-love practices like meditation, fitness, walking in nature, playing the guitar, and improving my self-confidence.

The year 2023 will be my year to overcome burnout and anxiety and find my Zen. There’s no question that the past two years have not been very relaxing, but the year 2023 will be my year of cool, calm, collected, hot girly happiness.

My self-care journey will begin with investing in a lovely anti-burnout journal that will help me relieve stress and finally invest in myself instead of feeling tired all the time. The journal has been on my radar for a while, and I’m eager to give it a try.

Even better, it includes weekly lessons, challenges and video yoga, mindfulness, meditation and nutrition lessons that are helpful for anyone trying to feel calmer and less stressed.
