Why We Want Every Piece From the Staud x New Balance Collab

What better way to reignite your zest for working out than the activewear collaboration of the season. Presenting the Staud x New Balance collection, the perfect balance of performance and joy.

Best known for their 70’s inspired silhouettes, colour blocking and structured bags, Los Angeles brand Staud presents their first foray into activewear. Teaming up with heritage powerhouse New Balance, the contemporary piece has spearheaded the creative behind a colourful capsule, released into a fashion industry in need of a little sunshine right now. Let us confirm – it is certainly sunshine that was delivered.

“Part of our brand identity has always been to create timeless fashion pieces for the modern woman, so working with a heritage brand such as New Balance, who’s been around since 1906, felt like a perfect collaboration,” said Sarah Staudinger, Co-founder and Creative Director of Staud.

The iconic retro-athleisure wardrobes of Princess Diana and Susan Sarandon are referenced in both colour choice and silhouette. Pinks, citrus hues and green have been playfully placed beside one another, ringing true to Staud’s inherent colour blocking DNA. For those preferring a more subdued colour palette of grey marle, navy and white have been included.

When it comes to shape, the mood is unapologetically cool. Silhouettes of nylon, spandex and jersey exude effortless cool. Worn while working out or not, these track pants, running shorts and leggings should be embraced at the track and the table. Functionality and versatility have been expertly considered to accommodate the lifestyle of the modern protagonist. Not sure what that means? Small interior pockets have been designed to perfectly fit a pair of Apple Air Pods. Welcome to 2020.

Honouring the famed 997 Sneaker, Staud has also put their stamp on the shoe synonymous with the New Balance brand. The ‘cool Dad sneaker’ has been reimagined in the hero colours of the collection.

If you weren’t motivated enough to get off the couch and get moving, let us draw attention to the collection’s subsequent imagery. Featuring none other than the powerhouse from across the Tasman, Georgia Folwer, this campaign echoes the bliss of summer. Shot on Miami Beach, Florida, volleyballs and sand bring energies similar to those of a scene from Baywatch.

The capsule is currently available for order and pre-order through the Staud website. Some items have already sold out. We implore you: run don’t walk for this one.
