Melbourne creator Maxine Wylde collaborates with Cotton On to bring us a collection of colour-blocked bags to brighten every day.

Words By Brittany Lyons

We’ve spoken about her before and we’ll speak about her again, Maxine Wylde is Melbourne’s very own content creator who is making serious technicolour waves within the local fashion space.

Known best for her love of colourful outfits of the day (OOTD), serious knack for interiors (check out her feature on The Design Files here) and newest addition, cute pup Murphy, we simply love living vicariously in Max’s world. Her combined social reach on Instagram and TikTok is an eye-watering 530,000 sets of eyes, which makes her one of Melbourne’s most influential creators.

Propelled to serious notoriety thanks to brand collaborations with some of the most sought-after high-end brands, ahem, Gucci, Swarovski & Prada, her impressive list of clients ranges from the high-end to the high-street. Her latest venture in particular, just so happens to have taken place much closer to home.

This week the creative launched her very first collaborative project with Geelong-based accessible powerhouse Cotton On. Wylde has designed a 12-piece handbag collection with colour, practicality and affordability in mind, and in our opinion, has absolutely nailed it.

Playing on her own brand identity of colour pairings and a distinct adoration for 90’s & 00’s style, this collection of small bags is the timely arrival for those who appreciate a pop of colour and fun within their accessories wardrobe.

Brought to us as a range of mini and small ‘going-out’ or carry-all (simply for the essentials) bags, there is certainly enough room for the modern-day city dweller’s must-haves like phone, keys etc. Designed to be held by their mini handle or snuggly under the arm, there is also the option to add accessories for those who prefer to don the cross-body look.

You can expect the addition of chrome chain details which are very much on trend at the moment thanks to the revival of the Y2K Zeitgeist, kudos to you, Bella Hadid. This hard look pairs perfectly with the happy hues the vegan-leather bags have been created in.

A rainbow of cobalt blues, pinks, hues of greens and black for the true Melbournian, expect something for everyone in this offering of considered accessories.

Our favourite colour blocked bag? The ‘Maxine Shoulder Bag’ in Green & Cobalt Blue is a classic shade pairing that would be versatile enough to pair with most looks.
