Indigenous Artists Miimi + Jiinda’s Stunning Homewares Collaboration with Adairs

Adair’s newest homewares collaboration is a culmination of Indigenous Australian art, culture and colour.

The Miimi + Jiinda x Adairs collection stands as a celebration of mothers, daughters, culture and beautiful artwork, to be experienced in the home.

Australian homewares giant Adairs has teamed up with Aboriginal artists and mother-daughter duo Miimi + Jiinda to bring us a collection of bedding and homewares we absolutely love.

Known for their collaborative projects with creators around the nation, Adairs have chosen storytellers Lauren Jarrett and Melissa Greenwood to help design a collection that now stands as one of our favourites to date.

Founders of Miimi + Jiinda, this pair of inspirational women have been delighting the world with their joy-inducing Aboriginal paintings and expertly woven goods since 2018.

Drawing on their craft of contemporary art, basket weaving and textile design, the pair expertly narrate stories of their elders and country in a culmination of bright, colourful linens and homewares.

Melissa and Lauren hail from the Gumbaynggirr, Dunghutti, and Bundjalung tribes of Australia’s East Coast. Often referred to as ‘Saltwater Country’, their ancestral homelands span the area from the northern end of Byron Bay, all the way down to Kempsey in New South Wales.

Encompassing some of the most beautiful ocean, river, rainforest and mountainous landscapes of Australia, each artwork featured within the collaboration has been inspired by their country and it’s traditional custodians.

“This collection holds a deep respect for land, culture and our elders. It is very earthy, bold & bright, and has been created for everyone to enjoy in their home” – Miimi + Jiinda.

Not straying too far from Adairs’ DNA, you’ll discover a wide variety of bed linens, handy homewares such as lamps, water vessels and tea towels, as well as goodies for your little ones within the limited-edition capsule collection.

A fierce pride of their strong, feminine matriarchal line is not only a common thread throughout the wider works of Miimi + Jiinda, but also a very poignant theme within the Adairs collection. The celebration of women, mothers and children is clearly portrayed in an abundance of wares for infants and the nursery. Featuring motifs telling stories of Aboriginal mothers, childbearing and childbirth, it is only too perfect that at the campaign imagery celebrates Melissa’s pregnancy.

Staying true to the organic and earthiness ethos of Miimi + Jiinda, fibres and materials used throughout the collection are gentle on your skin and gentle on our environment. Adorning your bed, yourself and your little one in organic cotton in beautiful storytelling motifs has never been simpler, or more captivating.

As with any highly-anticipated collaboration, most of the styles have now sold out online. With some stock still available through some stores, we urge you to move quickly on this one.
