When you’re like me and have been in a long-term relationship for almost a decade, the electricity of February 14th can certainly wane. One of the best ways to show effort at a Valentine’s Day date is to present yourself in a way your loved one would truly appreciate. Here are 3 outfit ideas that are perfect to wear this Saint Valentine’s according to different levels of formality, and on a personal level, 3 outfits I would love to see my partner sporting himself!

Hopeless Romantic
Kicking off on the most romantic, polished foot, if you’re planning to hit it out of the ballpark this year, listen up.
Whether it be a significant number of V days spent together, the first you’re celebrating, or you’ve managed to make a reservation somewhere super spesh, dressing up for the outing is an absolute must.
We understand that a suit is the most traditional way to show how much you care, but it can come off a little business-y.
To counteract the office attire seriousness, only use one element of a matching suit in your look.
For example, pair the trouser with a different coloured or shaped blazer, this Off-White number is a modernised version.
Following, sub out the crisp collared shirt for something funky and printed in a silk or linen. Finish off with your best pair of brogues and you’re ready to woo.
To top off your look, ensure the same amount of care is taken with your grooming as it is with your outfit.
A freshly shaven or trimmed face, some hair pomade to keep everything where it should be as well as a spritz of fragrance you reserve for special occasions should do the trick.

The mid-range date is probably reserved for those who are decades in, have children or the pressure is off.
Whilst the pressure may be off to impress, it’s still a romantic gesture to don your finest threads and make an effort to look nicer than you usually do in your day-to-day.
Whether you’re headed to a relaxed restaurant or hitting up the local gastro pub, it’s always a good idea to have a nice pair of chinos on the go to change into before you go.
