Home Fragrances That Will Fill Your Abode With Delicious Scents

Words By Brittany Lyons

Scents for the home are perfect holiday gifts, or a treat yourself moment that you won’t regret.

Luxe

Just like any accessory, for the body or the home, there is always an offering of pure luxury that’s skims the top of the market. When home fragrance is concerned, you best believe the high-end options are potent, beautiful and smell like blissful decadence.

When you think of luxury fragrance your mind will probably wonder to the scent institutions of Diptique, Cire Trudon and Fornasetti. Usually born out of Europe, these heritage houses have such sophisticated fragrance profiles that are honestly second to none. Using the best of the best when it comes to oils, hues and waxes, the candles especially look and smell of a statement.

The upmarket candle game is vast and sensuous. Some of your favourite high-end fashion houses often create candles with their signature scents. (These are an especially considered Christmas gift for those who have a particular penchant for a scent they used to wear).

When investing $150 +, an area where we love to spend a little money is the accessories or vessels that are associated with home fragrance. Ceramic candle holders, glass oil burners and very posh wick cutters are all ornamental pieces that look amazing on the surfaces of your home.

A treat for yourself of someone special, luxe home fragrance is a self-care moment for everyone in the house to enjoy.

Don’t feel like spending a small fortune of a few hours of burn time? Fair enough.

The mid-market of home fragrance is just as luxurious as the top end, and you definitely will get bang for your buck.

Brands like Aesop, L’Occitane and Byredo are fantastic examples of brands that still provide a waft of luxe in a more accessible sense.

A brand on our radar of late is Parisian label, Lola James Harper. Recognisable by the use of amber class to house candles, room sprays and perfumes, the family run outfit is a unique concept that seeks to translate cherished moments and turn them into scents. Capturing events, places and friendships found all over the world, the curated fragrance library of Lola James Harper is nostalgic and beautiful. We have been particularly enjoying the Comics Store Candle of late.

For those of you who enjoy something a little sweeter, we’re sure you’re familiar with the likes of Glasshouse. A fool-proof gift for those colleagues who don’t know very well or your aunt who loves scents names after holiday destinations, the curation from Glasshouse is beautiful, inoffensive and can be enjoyed by all.

The candles may be a little smaller, or the oils a little less concentrated, but your home will be filled to the ceilings with the fragrance you love.

Low

The ultimate stocking filler, these home fragrance options falling at $50 and under are everything.

As in our Luxe category above, the offering of home fragrance accessories like incense holders, candle holders and wick trimmers, also double as interesting knick-knacks and shelf fillers. ‘Le Galet’ incense holder by none other than Maison Balzac, is a hand-blown pebble of glass that holds any incense stick perfectly in place. Of course, if you’re after some heavenly incense, the Sydney-based brand also sell their Japanese crafted sticks, in 3 divine scents. Both the glass accessory and incense are calming additions to your home, and also the perfect gift for pretty much any lucky recipient.

Another inexpensive way to fill your home with fragrance is with the use of a room spray. Room sprays are pretty much a diluted Eau De Toilette, which means that you’re not wasting an expensive Eau De Parfum, full of oils and intended for your body, all around your house!

The scent lingers, and is fabulous when sprayed over couches, bed linen and right before you jump in a bath. Heavenly moments of self-care are instantly lived with the help of room sprays.

We have been enjoying native room sprays of late. The relatively new release from Adairs, part of their collaboration with Mimii + Jiinda (read more here), features hues of eucalypt, bergamot and citrus to freshen up any room of the home.
