Why Reformation’s Latest Footwear Collection Should be on Your Radar

These shoes were made for... saving the planet.

Reformation, the ethical fashion warriors born out of LA, are back with their second collection of footwear, and a very convincing case as to why making the switch to sustainable doesn’t mean compromising on cuteness.

First launched in 2019, just prior to the pandemic wreaking havoc on our global clothing and footwear industry, Reformation is back for Footwear 2.0. While COVID-19 is surely responsible for some of the undoing of the firstly released offering of shoes, the brand has actually admitted to there being some production issues the first time around.

We thought we could take some of our learnings and our standards that we had really homed in on in apparel and translate them to the new category,” said Reformation’s Chief Sustainability Officer Kathleen Talbot to FootwearNews.com. Unfortunately, the main bottleneck for the brand was the underestimation of additional components necessary to create a pair of shoes when compared to a ready-to-wear garment.

Nonetheless, almost 2 years on, Reformation seem to have totally nailed attempt two, with all comprised elements successfully coming from an ethical and sustainable manufacturing process. To add, not unlike every other Reformation product, the end-to-end lifecycle has been considered. The brand has partnered with local initiative ‘Looptworks’ that allows the brand to recycle 100% of the shoes after their life has come to an end with their wearer.

The collection itself is comprised of 15 styles, accompanied by a very generous offering of colour and motif options, with a strong 90’s theme throughout. Mules, heels, chunky loafers and sandals make up the majority of the styles, and give the team at Monde strong ‘Clueless’ energy. The shoes range from $146 to $412 in price.

Perfectly sported with their new collection of activewear, their casual or formal wear, these high and low heels are the classic shapes we look for no matter the season or trend.

Created with a clear purpose to not only surpass trend but also surpass any competitor when it comes to their carbon footprint, this collection is truly a step in the right direction.
