The Resurgence of the Nike Dunk

Created for athletes now worn by the elite, this is the evolution of the Nike Dunk. Shop the most impressive collection of Dunks, exclusively at Farfetch.

Born in the retro age of the 80s, the Nike Dunk was (not surprisingly) created as a Basketball shoe. Just like the move it’s named after, the Dunk is the most impressive, highly regarded move when it comes to the Nike sneaker game.

Not unlike the Converse Chuck All Star, which was also first created for the sport but has since been out-performed by modern upgrades, the Dunk has since moved on from its sporty beginnings.

Returning as an uber casual sneaker in the late 90s, the Dunk actually sparked the evolution of a skater off shoot style, the Nike SB, which falls within the Dunk family still to this day. You may also recognise anther style almost identical to the Dunk, the Air Jordan 1 is of equal calibre, but instead has the addition of the Air Jordan crest and air bubble to the sole.
No matter which version, high, low or SB top, the Dunk consistently pays homage to its retro roots through chunky lines and colour blocking goodness.

Now in the age of the 2020s, the Nike Dunk is considered the crème de la crème of the sneaker world. Thanks to some  impressive collaborations with the likes of Dior and covetable wearers like Justin Beiber and ASAP Rocky, it’s clear the Nike Dunk is back with an NBA stadium-level vengeance.

Due to this unsurmountable hype, most retailers have now found themselves completely out of stock of the both the high and low top versions of the Nike Dunk, except one.

Because we love you all so dearly, we’re here to announce that global fashion hub and, recently discovered home of the hard-to-find-sneaker, Farfetch, is the only place to be purchasing the Nike Dunk. To prove their super impressive offering, you can actually purchase a pair of the Nike SB ‘What The Dunk’ sneakers for a cool $47,708.

Whether you’re looking to splash a small fortune or invest in something a little more modest, we have you covered, shop some of our favourite Dunks below.
