Spotlight on: Acne Studios

The iconic brand behind the trendy scarf. For basics done right, look no further than Stockholm’s sweetheart designer Acne Studios.

Cult classic Scandi designers, Acne Studios, are currently en vogue thanks to their statement mohair scarves. But their iconic scarves don’t even scratch the surface of their brand identity.

Loved for their ultra-modern minimalist pieces and boundary pushing basics, Acne makes dressing effortlessly cool seem simple.

The acronym for Acne stands for; Ambition to Create Novel Expression, which forms the mission statement of the Stokholm-based creative brand.

Kicking things off in 1996 with 100 pairs of minimalist jeans to their name, founder Jonny Johansson distributed the jeans to his friends in the Swedish creative community.

From there, a huge amount of global interest and demand in the brand’s pared back aesthetic and innovative designs quickly grew.

Almost 30 years on, Acne’s seasonal collections and staple lines are inspired by Johansson’s love of all things art, from photography to music and architecture.

Made popular thanks to its grungy Scandinavian aesthetic, the label’s streetwear-inspired pieces create a perfectly edited modern casual wardrobe easy to achieve.

From the brand’s coveted oversized leather jackets and minimal denim, to the subverted basics and cult accessories, look no further than our Acne Studios edit to refine your daily outfit rotation.
