Paris’ Revival of the 60’s

The hottest trends with a nod to the 1960’s at this year's Paris Fashion Week.

It seems Europe’s leading fashion designers have decided the 60’s need a resurgence.

Christian Dior, Miu Miu and Hermes served up serious sixties attire at Paris Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2022 runways.

Despite the shows drawing to an end, we still have nothing but hot pink, tailored coats, box pleats, boat necklines and the shortest of miniskirts in mind.

Whilst the 1960’s era certainly had a wide-reaching impact on fashion, it’s safe to the say that the fun fashion trends of the 60’s are set to dominate, once again.

Dior’s SS22 show will be remembered as an outright throwback to the 1960’s, particularly evocative of the youth revolution.

Models donned sift dresses, orange suit sets, mini handbags, knee-high boots and tailored button ups. Further instilling the 60’s pop culture theme, was the artistic set which resembled a board game with a hint of pop art.

In a similar swinging vein, Versace’s recent runway show collection certainly was a nod to the Mary Quant era, with 60s silhouettes, striking geometric patterns, mini length dresses, exaggerated boat necks and bold colours.

When reminiscing on the revolutionary era, one cannot look past the iconic mini skirt. Popularised by Quant and sported by models like Twiggy, the once controversial above-the-knee skirt is as fun as it gets.

If you’re after a bit more coverage but still want to scream 60’s chic, opt for a slim pencil skirt or pair of iconic capri pants.

Don’t forget to finish any outfit with oversized sunglasses, coloured leather gloves and a pair of platform Mary Janes.
