Jacquemus Homme: Menswear that Covers all Bases
Get to know Jacquemus on a more masculine level.
Everyone knows Jacquemus for their teeny-tiny handbags, their atypical silhouettes and the incorrect pronunciation of their name. What Jacquemus isn’t known for is their line of menswear.
It’s new territory for Simon Porte Jacquemus.
The eponymous brand, founded in 2009, announced the launch of menswear and the designer’s ‘new job’ back at Paris Fashion Week after his FW18 show.
Ever since the announcement, Jacquemus has created menswear that defies conventions, stereotypes, and many fixated rules of fashion.
His menswear line has been described as representing every type of man. There are high-fashion hiking boots for the outdoorsy type, sleek polo shirts for the businessman and playful hoodies for the dude that skates after work.
We’ve noticed Jacquemus absolutely aces his Bermuda shorts. They come in a few variations including an Austin Powers like floral print, wide-leg denim shorts and multi-panelled brown cargos.
A personal favourite is the La Montagne Shorts. The beige floral print is hard to look past – featuring oversized brown flowers dotted against cream-coloured wool. They are a relaxed loose fit, with large side pockets and finish just shy of the knee.
Every single colour, from fluorescent pink to rich khaki green, is brought to life by Jacquemus.
He includes a kaleidoscope of colours in each collection, ensuring there is something for every kind of masculine dresser.
