Brand Spotlight: Jacquemus

Jacquemus’ new collection ‘La Montagne’ is its most diverse yet. Since starting his namesake label in 2009, Simon Porte Jacquemus has grown to become one of the most prolific designer names in the fashion world. Its Fall Winter ‘21 Collection unites pragmatism with idealism, all the while staying true to the brand’s trademark elegant cuts.

Central to Jacquemus’ refined designs is their execution. Subversive cuts, detailed tailoring and graceful draping flatter the natural curves of the body, while colour palettes remain classic and cohesive. One of the many reasons for Jacquemus’ success as a fashion house comes from its loyalty to the signature designs it made its name from.

While Jacquemus’ design evolution has seen it build upon trademark designs like its miniature Chiquito bags, or Bahia shirt dress, it never strays from them completely. As a result, Jacquemus is a brand you can rely on to continue to deliver the styles consumers already love, all the while testing the waters with fresh trends and ideas.

The French fashion house’s Fall/Winter ‘21 collection, La Montagne, takes us from the Southern French summers of Jacquemus’ childhood, all the way up to the alps. Fluffy shearling accents, delicate mohair and thick winter layers set the tone for the most expansive collection to date for Jacquemus.

La Montagne displays somewhat of a dichotomous collection for the label. The collection makes a visionary statement by incorporating a kaleidoscopic palette of deep red, bright cyan, neon orange and striking hot pink, but also explores the very essence of practicality in the mountains, with gold embossed carabiners, tread sole hiking boots and utilitarian sweaters and jackets. What results is a collection catered to every customer. A blend of androgyny and traditional femininity, of understated elegance and out-there flair.
