Dress Like A Screen Queen

Get the look of some of TV’s most iconic characters.

It may come at no surprise that many of us are currently sitting at home binge-watching all our favourite TV shows. While trends come and go, the most iconic screen queen’s wardrobes have somehow held the test of time, whether it’s silky slip dresses or tartan mini skirts. The team at Monde have chosen our favourite TV protagonists with wow-factor wardrobes - from Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw to Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf. These cult-favourite characters will always have your back.

Friends

Ninetie’s fashion trends have definitely had a resurgence in recent years and for the ultimate style guru, look no further than Rachel Green from Friends.

Rachel’s style was the epitome of minimalist 90’s glamour with her silky slip dresses, collared shirts, miniskirts, turtleneck skivvies and of course, those incredible knee-high boots.

One of Miss Rachel Green’s most coveted outfits from her repertoire was the mini-skirt and skivvy combo. In a variety of epsiodes, she famously donned a black long-sleeved roll neck tucked into a grey box pleated mini skirt, with sheer tights and pointed toe knee-high boots.

In honour of ‘The Rachel’, we love RedValentino’s wool tartan mini skirt – complete with a mid-rise waist and side-slip pockets. Rachel was a sucker for any type of slip dress and the colour red and Saba’s Silk Dress unifies these two perfectly in a flattering slim fit and shoestring straps.

To take any look to the next level, don’t forget a pair of knee-high boots. Hygie’s pointed toe leather boots are equal parts sexy and sleek and can be paired with a slip dress, mini or midi skirt.

Friends’ IT girl famously finished any outfit with a baguette bag and boy do we love Staud’s Green Bean Bag with ruched details.

Bridgerton

When thinking of Bridgerton, we can’t help casting our mind to the exuberant 18thcentury fashion it was inspired by – tight corsets, intricate embroidery, square necklines, cap sleeves and full skirts and dresses.

The shows protagonist, Daphne Bridgeton does not disappoint in this department with her luxurious lace, plush velvet, sparkling beads and silk filled wardrobe.

Whilst the total Bridgertown gown getup may be so-last-century, we love the look of a corset (without the all-consuming restriction). Dion Lee’s Panelled Corset top manages to juggle classic and contemporary with a scoop neck, panelled design, and garter straps.

For lovers of dresses, Dion Lee’s Contour Corset Long Sleeve Dress in sandstone pink is a personal favourite with intricate lace on the sleeves, neckline and fills the boning of the corset waistband. The bralette portion of the dress is in a soft coral colour, balanced perfectly by the midi length pencil skirt finish.

If lace is on the mind, Alexander McQueen’s Endangered Flower Lace Cigarette Trousers would score any wearer a read in Lady Whistledown’s column. The pants show just the right amount of skin with a high waist and a semi-sheer finish.

Of course, pearls are a must when channelling your inner Daphne Bridgerton. For this, we love Carly Paiker’s Vacation Pearl Necklace which includes little gold beads around the entire necklace.

Gossip Girl

Blair Waldorf is undeniably the queen of preppy, put together outfits. Whether she’s meeting S in the Upper-East side or sneaking off to see Chuck, Blair is always dressed to the nines.

She fits into the wealthy New York style stereotype with plaid printed skirts and coats, tailored tops and shirts, colourful mini dresses, and a love of all things with frills, texture and bows.

Aje’s Memento Mini Skirt can be understood as a combination of Queen B’s wardrobe with the black and white checked fabric, mini length with a ruffle hem, all in A-line cut.

Blair was often spotted in vibrant shades of yellow and in honour of B we love Bottega Veneta’s Square-ruffle blouse, made from lightweight crepe with a deep v-neckline. The shirt is immaculately tailored with long sleeves finished with buttoned cuffs and a buttoned front.

To replicate Blair’s bold, flowy and polished summer looks, Zimmermann’s Wavelength Pleated Printed Mini dress will do just the trick.

Of course, any Blair Waldorf inspired look is complete with a headband and a trusty pair of tights. We love Izoa’s Eloise Headband in a chunky navy fabric with wrapped detailing around the band.

Sex and the City

Sex and the City’s, Carrie Bradshaw certainly knew how to turn out a traffic stopping ‘fit in New York City (and successfully hail any cab). The stylish sex columnist was fearless in her approach to fashion – tulle skirts, revealing tube tops, bold printed dresses and a love for all things silk and satin.

Whilst her wardrobe usually consisted of eye-catching, colourful, and heavily textured items, some of Miss Bradshaw’s best outfits involved a classic crisp white shirt.

Zimmermann’s midi skirts entirely emulate Carrie’s favourite prints, hues, and fabrics. We love the Pleated Printed silk-organza Midi Skirt which features bold iconography in yellow, baby pink and warm orange.

If you after a garment to mimics Carrie’s iconic tulle skirt look, the Wavelength Ruffled Point D’esprit will do just that! The skirt features a high waistband which flows into an A-line cut finishing right on the shin. Pair the skirt with a tube or crop top for the ultimate Sex and the City look.

When thinking back to iconic SATC outifts, we can’t forget Carrie’s chic off the shoulder mini dress. We love Gauge81’s Beja one-shoulder knitted mini dress in a hot pink. The body-con dress not only has an off the shoulder spaghetti strap but also an asymmetric neckline, calling attention to the décolletage.

Finish any Carrie inspired look with statement gold jewellery, maybe even a necklace spelling out ‘Carrie’?

Emily In Paris

From baby pink houndstooth sets to printed jackets, Emily Cooper quickly took on style icon status.

The wardrobe for Emily in Paris combined both classic French pieces and modern American garments on a range of characters.

Yet we must pay tribute to the protagonist’s fun, flirty and chic style and of course, that incredible black and white checked blazer set, the felted red beret, and matching lipstick.

In honour of this outfit, we love ASOS’ Jersey Longline Blazer. The blazer will elevate any outfit with the monochromatic dogtooth fabric, longline finish, and single-breasted style. Pair the jacket with a colourful beret for the ultimate Emily in Paris look – our favourite is Gucci’s Red GG Beret which intricate crochet detailing.

It’s no secret that Emily loved a bold print with a pop of colour and Ganni’s Brown and Green Mesh Printed Shirt certainly combines the two; with a humble shirt cut made eye-catching by the neon green floral print on the sheer mesh fabric.

Whilst Emily always looked put together, she didn’t shy away from a classic pair of blue jeans. We love Nobody Denim’s Skylar Wide-leg jeans with a high waist, pockets on either side in a relaxed wide leg cut. J’adore!
