Brand History: Havaianas are a fusion of culture. The iconic rubber sandals are made in Brazil (Havaianas is Portuguese for “Hawaiians”) designed by Scotsman Robert Fraser and inspired by Japanese zori sandals (hence the iconic straw-like patterns on the straps. Fraser was the first man in the world to mass produce the highly versatile flip-flops out of rubber and has since spawned decades worth of copy-cats (but we say nothing beats the original).
The original Havaianas featured a white sole with coloured outer straps but now they come in every colour combo, style and print imaginable. With 150 million pairs produced yearly, these are undeniably the most popular flip-flops in the world.
