Clinique Brand

The Clinique story is the stuff of beauty folklore. Nearly 50 years ago, American Vogue published a story highlighting the significance of skincare. Within the piece, titled ‘Can Great Skin Be Created?’ Dr Norman Orentreich was quoted, and an icon was born. Once Evelyn Lauder brought it to the attention of her mother-in-law, makeup maven Estee, both Dr Orentreich and the beauty editor who penned the piece, Carol Phillips, were swiftly recruited to create a skincare brand. A year later, in 1968, the first allergy-tested and dermatologically developed Clinique product premiered at Saks Fifth Avenue. Evelyn went onto further develop and drive the brand, debuting the white lab coat that is now synonymous with Clinique Consultants across the world. The brand has remained true to it’s simple, streamlined approach, and still carries the iconic 3-Step product line the brand is famous for.
