SWIM TRUNKS

Bathers are just one of those things that you shouldn’t ever go without over a summer season, so we’ve put together a combination of the best swim trunks going around this season.

Ahead of the game with their outrageously bright and confident swim trunks is French swimwear label Vilebrequin. Containing an all-over graphic print, with everything from octopi to turtles, they are reflective of everything that is great and playful about fashion.

For something a little more basic, but still within the bold colour theme that continues to show itself every summer, grab a pair of timeless classic trunks from Polo Ralph Lauren. Giving off a Hamptons look; you are one step closer to resort living.

An added bonus of these shorts is that they are also consciously made, with the brand choosing to make use 100 percent recycled polyester for the lining, and 90 percent for the outer layer.

No matter the thought process that goes into finding swim trunks for yourself, we are here to help you find the best pair to fit your summer vibe.

SPEEDOS

While they may not be for everyone, speedo-style swimwear has quickly been climbing the list of being a summer must-have for many over the past couple of years.

By far the most dependable brand when it comes to the more skimpier of bathing attires, is that of the iconic Australian swimwear brand Speedo.

Made for those interested in competitive swimming, they have been making their way into the wardrobes of many who are simply wanting bathers that have less fabric and make swimming less restrictive.

While the Speedo brand remains a classic, there are also many other brands that should be considered when purchasing what Australians often refer to as ‘budgy smugglers’.

For a style that takes you back to the good ol’ days, the new season Osklen swimmers are a great addition to your summer collection. While something like the CDLP recycled-fibre swim briefs are perfect for men wanting to do their part for the environment.

Sun Smart Essentials

It wouldn’t be right to just send you on your way with a list of all the summer essentials, only to forget to remind you that sun care comes first and foremost.

When shopping, and packing, for a day out in the sun, you must not forget a trusty hat and shades.

At the moment when it comes to hats and shades, it is an all things go kind of situation. While there are obvious ones that seem to be showing up on runways across the globe, when it comes to colours, both neutral tones and vibrant hues are in.

As well as green being a colour of the season, pink most definitely has a place, and it is for this reason we have been drawn to the Jacquemus cotton bucket hat. Complete with a wide brim, it makes the perfect kind of hat to protect both your face, ears, and neck from the blaring sun.

For some shades that steal the show, but also save you from squinting and struggling to see, grab a pair of Bottega Veneta layered design sunglasses in green, orange or yellow.

SANDALS

Wearing sneakers in summer, and specifically on a beach or pool day, is just a massive no-no. But if the typical thongs, or flip-flops, are also not your style, then we have a few great options to throw your way.

For something a little more affordable, that has a similar aesthetic to the pricier slides trending in the market at the moment, grab some Puma slides to slip on and off without struggle.

Otherwise, if you have saved a little extra spending money ahead of Christmas to spoil yourself, then we suggest some Off-White Meteor Slides. Available in the colour of this season, a vibrant punchy green, there is no room left for error.

If more traditional slides are more for you, then Bottega Veneta’s parakeet-green slides, with Intrecciato-effect grooves and a moulded footbed, are sure to be calling your name.

That is unless you are well onboard the dad-style train, and in that case, we are sure the Suicoke Kisee-V sandals will have a just as equally special place in your getaway suitcase, and heart.

ACCESSORIES

We know, we know, guys only need some bottoms with pockets and they are good to go. But, hear us out because sometimes a day out calls for a bag to carry your belongings in.

Besides, a towel is a must-have to both lie on and dry yourself with after going for a dip, so you might as well take a bag to also carry it in.

Also jumping on the positively conscious train is AMI Paris, who have made a start with their towels by making them from at least 50 percent organic materials. Available in a two-toned design, it is simple yet stands out enough so you can spot it easily from afar when coming out of the ocean.

If going to the beach or lying by the pool is more of a full day out situation for you, then it obviously means you need to have snacks and drinks on hand. Making this easy for you are the trusty cooler bags from Business & Pleasure Co.

Obviously though, we suggest ignoring the business part of the brand’s name, because this summer we believe you are well and truly in need of some relaxation, and a day that involves all play and no work.
