5 Hair Perfumes To Get Your Locks Smelling Luxurious

The hype on hair perfumes and mists and which ones you’ll find on our bathroom shelves.

Did you know that your locks are the perfect vehicle for scent? An ingenious beauty creation and amalgamation of two products we already love, we are here to introduce you to hair perfumes. While normal eau de parfum, and eau de toilette sprays can damage the hair due to drying ingredients, hair perfumes seek to combine delicious scents with the hydrating and protecting nature of hair mists. Truly embodying what it means to get the best of both worlds and no longer needing to waste expensive EDP spritzes on anything but the skin, we wish we knew about these products a whole lot earlier in life. Whether you’re between washes, post workout or looking to up your holistic fragrance game, these are the scented hair products leading the game.

Balmain Paris Hair Couture

When it comes to luxury haircare, nobody does it quite like French fashion house Balmain.

Well known for bougie shampoos, conditioners and hair accessories, the brand knows how to expertly marry its knack for fragrance and extravagance, with haircare.

The Silk Hair Perfume by Balmain is a 3-in-1 product that not only scents the hair but detangles and protects it.

Formulated with nourishing oils like Argan and silk proteins, it works hard to replenish and nourish the hair without weighing it down.

To apply, simply spray a small amount to portions of the hair from 10cm from the scalp. Some beauty junkies swear by using this as a solution to fly-aways too!

The fragrance itself is summer-inspired. Expect notes of florals and spices, with an impressive balance to boot. Nothing too overpowering that may interfere with your regular perfumer.

Leaving the hair radiant, healthy and smelling like a summer breeze, what’s not to love?

Sachajuan

For another hard-working multi-purpose fragranced hair mist, Sachajuan’s addition cannot be overlooked.

The Protective Hair Perfume not only adds a burst of fragrance freshness but also moisturises, protects and adds shine to the hair follicle.

Counteracting free radical damage, protecting from harmful UV rays and imparting shine, this product wears many hats.

The formula boasts natural odour neutralising technology which helps to break down smelly molecules that may build up in the hair between washes. Making this particular product an amazing post-workout freshen up!

The fragrance profile itself is a signature of the Swedish beauty and wellness brand. Expect fruity florals, classically constructed with top notes of litchi and green apple. Mid notes are grounding rose, ylang ylang and vibrant peach, and for the base, you’ll recognise cedar, whit musk and patchouli.

Overall a highly nuanced and complex scent profile that is sure to tickle the fancy of many.

Gentle enough to be used as an all-over body mist, we cannot recommend this multipurpose hair perfume enough!

Jo Malone

English-based cosmetic company Jo Malone put their own traditional spin on the hair mist and we are in love.

Boasting a formulation of argan oil, and niacinamide complex, this mist is a nourishing and softening product that guarantees to leave the hair feeling better than before its application.

Boosted with nourishing oils yet remaining lightweight inconsistency, even the finest hairs will not be left with a greasy or oily appearance.

To apply, simply spritz a small amount of product to the end portion of the hair and immerse yourself in the calming scent.

Classic and traditionalist, Jo Malone never ceases to bring us a refined and English countryside fragrance that is utterly nostalgic. This mellow, golden scent of pear and freesia is a breath of fresh air.

Balancing all the top floral and fruity notes, notes you can expect hints of amber, patchouli, and wood to ground you. Juicy and earthen, this scent is heavenly.

The only thing left to do is sink into the calm-inducing fragrance and admire your shiny, healthy and nourished hair.

Byredo

When it comes to contemporary and modern scents, Byredo is a new kid on the fragrance block that has certainly made waves since its launch in 2006.

Capturing the hearts and noses of beauty junkies around the globe thanks to signature scents such as Gypsy Water, Mojve Ghost and (personal favourite) Bal D’Afrique, their interpretation of these into hair mists is totally captivating.

Yes, they’ve brought their already successful library of fragrance into the hair product world, but totally reinvigorated them by presenting them as delicate, considered iterations.

The unique formula leaves the hair luminous, nourished and subtly yet long-lastingly perfumed throughout the whole day.

The brand recommends spritzing the product above the head then proceeding to walk into the plume of goodness to adequately douse the hair and body. Taking on an experience that sounds like heaven.

Bal D’Afrique’s unique profile seeks to convey a mix of Paris in the late 1920s and its strong infatuation with African culture throughout this time. Strong in character and vibrancy, expect notes of earthy bucchu, spicy-musky African marigold and zesty bergamot, lemon and neroli.

Juliette Has a Gun

Remember our article on the most iconic genderless fragrances? (No? Read it here)

Well Juliette Has a Gun came in a number 1.

This utterly revolutionary fragrance is complex, androgenous and honestly like nothing else I’ve ever smelt before.

The hair iteration absolutely did not disappoint.

Enjoy the cult scent you know and love, this time without the alcohol which leaves the hair stripped and dry.

Juliette Has a Gun Not a Hair and Body Mist is formulated with antioxidants for protection, natural oils for nourishment and is free of nasties like parabens or sulphates.

A consistency lightweight enough for the hair, yet nourishing enough to leave it hydrated, enjoy a luminous finish on hair and skin after application.

To wear, simply spritz a few squirts and walk right into it, leading with your head. Making sure your hair is soaking up all the goodness.

Created to hero an otherwise filler scent called ‘Cetalox’, this subtle base note finally has its time to shine. Paired with sparks of amber, woods and freshness, we cannot recommend this fragrance profile enough. It’s delicious.
